  • Completed Cold Frame, Effort PA
    Cold frame addition to a potting shed

  • Construction continues with 2”x3” studs
  • Framing detail at a corner
  • Framing the lid support structure
  • Framing is mostly done
  • Wire mesh installed at base (to keep vermin from tunneling in from underneath the soil.)
  • Cedar tung and groove siding installed on outside of 2”x3” stud framing
  • Composite decking boards installed inside of the cold frame to hold the soil (to avoid chemical leaching of Pressure Treated lumber)
  • The frames for the 4 lids constructed and installed
  • Removable lid hinge detail
  • Cold frame and potting shed with fresh paint
  • Inside detail of the planting bed
  • Completed cold frame with lids on and raised (to vent heat)
